Gang Qian joined the ASU faculty as an assistant professor in August 2003. Before that, he worked as a faculty research assistant and research associate in the Center for Automation Research at the University of Maryland Institute for Advance Computer Studies in 2001 and 2002, respectively. He received the B. E. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 1995, and the M. S. and Ph. D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1999 and 2002, respectively. His research interests include human motion analysis, signal and image processing, computer vision, statistical learning and inference. He received the University Guo-Mo-Ruo Golden Medal at USTC in 1994. He is a member of IEEE.
