Engineer
Assegid Kidané came to Arizona State University with hardware development experience from the imaging industry.
During his time at ISA and now AME, he has led the development of numerous electronic devices, subcomponents and modules that are used in sensing and control of performance and installation environments. His accomplishments include a laser fence and vibratory feedback system that enables the blind and the hearing-impaired to participate in and enjoy performance functions, and a floor sensor with over 193,000 sensing elements. This huge sensor is presently part of AME’s multimodal sensing system along with a 16-camera motion capture system in IREMA.
Assegid manages the Technology Development Lab (TDL), AME’s embedded control lab, and is currently leading the development of context aware smart objects for use in AME’s four key focus areas: health, education, communication and creativity.
